Abbreviations:
ch = chain
bl = back loop
sc = single crochet
slst = slip stitch
st = stitch

1. Crochet rafia yarn, approximate quantity: Beige 120 gram
2. 3.5mm crochet hook

Top to brim edge: 12″

Tension: Approx 14sts x 14rows single crochet (4 inches square)

Directions:
1st layer – work from top to brim, crochet on back loops only.
Round Base

beg sl knot, ch3, join with slst to the first ch to make a circle
r1: ch1 sc8, mm (8 st)
r2 – r9: increase 8 sts evenly for each round, mm (72 sts)

Band and Brim

r10 – 25: sc into each st around, mm
r26: increase 36 sts evenly around, mm (108 sts)
r27: sc into each st around, mm
r28: increase 8 sts evenly around, mm (116 sts)
r29 – r40: repeat r27 – r28 6 times, slst. (164 sts)

2nd layer – work from brim back to top, crochet on front loops only
turn your hat upside down, so that the last row of 1st layer becomes the first row (view the pictures in the straw beach bag to visualize)
